Today was a good day. I had some time off after a long time and though the day started early I managed to step out, meet an old friend, have a lovely lunch, wandered around Indiranagar (Bangalore). All an all peaceful and perfect!

As I mentioned in my last post, I was shooting for a series of short vignettes for Nokia Research Center and now I am editing them. I will try and put them up online. However, I did get thinking about the opening and title sequences (so important and so under-rated!).

I am posting three that are really like! Of course the list is endless starting Saul Bass to Kuntzel + Deygas of ‘Catch Me If You Can’ fame but, I wanted to pick three relatively recent films and shows, that had varied and interesting opening sequences.

CASINO ROYALE- 2006

LOST- OPENING SEQUENCE- David LaChapelle

UP IN THE AIR- OPENING SEQUENCE

Taking lives is another film whose title sequence I really enjoyed (sorry I cant find the sequence anywhere! But watch it if you can. Music by Philip Glass compliments it perfectly!)

Write in with your favorite title sequences!

ciao for now!

  1. Two awesome title sequences. Had a peek at your latest post on your blog.

Pranav Ullal just sent these in! Thanks!

  2. I love these too! Definitely my top three are: Casino Royale, Catch Me if You Can and Up in the Air. Another good one is Napolean Dynamite! Also, many of the older James Bond films have amazing cutting-edge (for the time) title sequences (which in some cases were clearly the best part of the film!).
